ReplyDeleteIf I had to give some advice to next year’s Algebra students, I would say to don’t put off studying/reviewing for tests until the last minute. It is really important to make sure that you understand topics and the math gets harder as the year goes on.
One thing I would do differently is to start studying for finals at least 3 weeks before because even though 1-2 weeks seems like enough, it isn’t because I’m not just studying for the math final, I’m studying for other ones as well. Another thing I would do differently is to block 9gag when I’m doing homework because I get easily distracted.

2. If you were to give some advice (or a warning) to next year's Algebra students, what would it be?
It would definitely be to pay attention every single class. Not only is Algebra a harder concept to learn compared to Pre-Al but it's very fast paced. I honestly think if you lose it once then you're going to have a really hard time keeping up and trying to get back on track. It's not impossible, but just very difficult.
3. With the end in sight, and the weather becoming more beautiful than ever, it may be a little difficult to focus during this last week. Name two things you will do DIFFERENTLY from what you've done all year to help you stay focused.
I would definitely procrastinate less. I get things done, but in a really slow, long period of time. I would definitely fix that if I were to change anything. It would probably help in the long run. Another thing would be to practice when I have time at home. Practice makes perfect, and I'd be a lot more prepared for my tests in the future.

Some advice to next year’s Algebra students is to try their best and concentrate in class. A lot of the problems on the test comes from the textbook, so if you do well in the classwork, the test would seem easy to you. Also, it is important you keep up with math and hand in work in the right time, since late work isn’t accepted in math.
Two things I would do differently from what I’ve done all year is sometimes listening to music while solving math problems, and also going on iChat or facebook in the middle of solving a problem sometimes.

In order to help me stay focused, I always set a target and a prize. So, if I finish this work in certain amount of time(hw, review, etc), I do something fun for certain amount of time(games). Also, one more thing that helped me was making a timeline for what I would do today.
