Equation #5

5 comments:

  1. Mr. Shoe owns a shoe store. He asked the Super Shoes factory to send him a certain number of boxes of shoes. The Super Shoes factory doesn’t have the best management, so they messed up the order and sent nine times the number of boxes that Mr. Shoe originally ordered. Mr. Shoe called the Super Shoes factory, called them idiots and demanded they do something. The Super Shoes factory sent four more boxes of shoes as an apology. Mr. Shoe doesn’t want so many shoes so he gives away all the boxes of shoes he got from the Super Shoes factory to seven different charities. Each charity gets seven boxes of shoes. How many boxes of shoes did Mr. Shoe actually want in the first place?

  3. The story does fit with the equation and it's very creative as well. There aren't any noticeable grammatical errors and the details such as, The Super Shoes factory giving nine times Mr.Shoe's order and Mr.Shoe giving all of the shoes back to seven different charities, are all very original., The only problem was that in the process of writing out an equation I was confused with the sentence “Each charity gets seven boxes of shoes.” However, I was able to understand it after reading it over a several times. I believe this could be fixed by adding more detail to this sentence, or making it more stand out. Overall, this word problem is written very well, with all the correct compartments.

  4. The story fits the equation and it was fun to read. But it was kind of hard to read at first because “shoes” were repeating so it was a bit confusing. Also, when you were talking about sending nine times the number of boxes, you could have written the same number of shoe box but different nine styles of shoes. Other than that, the plot was very creative.

  5. Revised Edition:

The factory sent four more boxes as an apology. Mr. Shoe didn’t want so many shoes so he gave away all the boxes of shoes he got from the Super Shoes factory to seven different charities. Mr. Shoe made sure that all seven charities each got seven boxes of shoes. How many boxes of shoes did Mr. Shoe actually want in the first place?
