  1. Yes, I feel that the past tests given weren't too easy, but they weren't too hard either. They were challenging, I think, because of the wordings. Sometimes it's confusing so we need to read it over and over again to understand it 100%
Yeah. Even if I don't have time to study at home I feel like I know the concepts well enough. I like how he tests a test review with the whole class the class before the test.
My favorite part has been learning new things, being ahead of the other classes, and watching the videos. My least favorite part is that that I feel like we're going way to fast. I understand since we'll be going slower later on but I wanted to start at a steady pace instead of doing like 2 to 3 lessons per class.
I think it'd be nice if we can do more group work like the videos assignment. It was challenging to get the idea but it was when when we were making it.

  2. 1. I feel like the test is reasonably challenging. The word problems and some of the requirements such as no equal signs in expressions, labeling your value and more could be confusing, which leads the students to slip and make mistakes.
2.I do feel like Mr.Jobe adequately prepared me for the test. All of the questions in the test were about the materials covered in class and we solved lots of practice questions as well, making the test less challenging.
    3. My favorite part about math class is that we have a lot of discussion and group work although math is more of an individual, quiet subject. I generally like math and enjoy this class as well, so I don't really have a least favorite part.
    4. I think doing more activities and games could make the class even more entertaining.

  3. I don’t think the tests have really challenging. However, I am a slow worker when doing math, so I feel that I am short of time. If I make mistakes on the test, it is probably because of a multiplication error or something like that. I think problems that require a lot of steps would make them more challenging. I feel that Mr. Jobe has adequately prepared us for the tests because he makes us do warm-ups everyday which can help us practice our skills. After we learn the entire chapter, I think I understand everything we learned. My favorite part about math class is that I don’t have as much homework as I had last year. I don’t need to spend an hour doing equations anymore. My least favorite part is when I don’t have enough time to finish solving the equations we are supposed to do. I think we should more projects than tests because projects are fun and we can show our creativity. I think projects show whether we know the information just as well as tests do.

  4. 1. I think it was challenging on the word problem I confused at the words meaning so I didn't know how to solve the question.
    2. I feel Mr. Jobe adequately prepared me for the test because I understand easy what learn and doing the test review before the test.
    3. The favorite part of the mass class was watching videos to learn the properties and talking about the properties. The least favorite was I felt we learn and do thing too fast.
    4. To improve this class I think we should do more activities when we learn something new.

  5. Yes, I feel that some parts of the test have been challenging but also a big part of the tests weren't so challenging mainly because we covered everything on the test. They were also challenging because even though we had done those types of equations some of them on the tests were harder.

I feel that Mr. Jobe has prepared us well for the tests because everything that was in the test we did in class and we knew all of the equations.

My favourite part about math class so far has been making and watching our videos and also learning new things like dividing by fractions. My least favourite thing about math class has probably been remembering the properties. Even though we learnt them in a fun way it is really hard to remember all of the properties and what they mean.

My suggestions to improve this class would be if we could take more time revising some of the properties.

  6. 1.I have felt that the tests weren’t too challenging- they were reasonable. I think the tests were reasonable because everything we had covered in class was appeared in the test, with complicated numbers. Problems that have trickier wording can make word problems more challenging, since students will get confused with what to do in setting up the equation/expression.

2.I feel that Mr. Jobe adequately prepared us for the test, because he went over all the materials required for the test, and gave us homework similar to the questions on the test. He also gave us trickier problems than the ones on the test, so that we could easily get through the problems on the test.

3.My favorite part about math class so far was having fun learning properties, such as getting into groups and making property videos. It was a way to understand some of the properties quickly, while having fun with my partner. On the other hand, I will not like taking the property quiz, because there are so many similar properties to memorize, even if there are videos on the wiki.

4.To improve this class, we should try out game activities to understand concepts in math.

  7. Every time I take the test, I find some problems challenging for me not only because of the numbers and symbols but also the word problems. Well, it’s obvious that word problems are hard and VERY disturbing but for me, some vocabularies or phrases bewildered me. Such as, ‘consecutive integers’, stock of $28,etc.
I think Mr. Jobe prepared us well for the test. He let us solve LOTS OF PROBLEMS either at home or during the class and also, he made us to make a VIDEO so as to help us understand the term. Although it was really disturbing and tiresome some, I can’t deny that it did good on me and my test.
My favorite part of the math class, yet was the properties video project. While working on it, I got to learn new properties and also I could understand it better than just looking at the book and reading. I had to think hard to get a good example to explain the property and was able to organize the terms in a fun way watching other people’s videos. My least favorite part of the class was the worksheet that was often homework and we had to calculate it in order to find out what those scattered letters meant. I didn’t like those things because although it’s a very good practice, it took too much time and I wasn’t really curious about what that paper wanted to say.
For the improvements of the class, why don’t you let us explain the equation or an expression before you go over it?

  8. 1. Yes, I feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging. I think this is because for most of the tests, there are many questions and not much time. Also, multi-step questions and problems that require a lot of thinking (such as complex word problems) come out a lot on tests, and since you have a time limit, you can’t stop to think for longer than you need to.
    2. Yes, I feel like Mr. Jobe helped me prepare for the test a lot. This is because when I get home and open my textbook to practice some problems before the test, I realize that I already solved almost all of the questions on the concepts I need to work on in class (since it was part of the classwork / homework). Also, the study guide was really useful and the review games were helpful, too.
    3. My favourite part about maths class so far is when we made the videos. Not only was it fun, but it helped me understand the concepts of all the properties much better. Also, it was nice to watch other people’s videos about their properties too. My least favourite part was when we rushed and did 2 or 3 lessons a day. I get that we are only learning a lot to save time for the harder chapters, but sometimes when we moved on I didn’t really understand the concept that was learnt before and had a little trouble with the homework.
    4. I think that it would be nice if we learned maths in a fun way, like we did when we were making the properties video. This is because while doing these projects, you can have fun and learn at the same time.

  9. 1.Yes, I think the test was challenging because I get stuck when it comes to word problems. It’s sometimes very hard and since the test’s questions are in word problem, I have hard time solving it. To understand the problem perfectly, I think we need to review the lessons until we get it right. That way, we probably won't forget it.
2.Mr. Jobe goes over the reviews before we have tests or quizzes. I like how he goes over from the beginning and explain them again. So, I kind of get the idea what problems he will give us in the tests and quizzes.
3.My favorite part so far was making the property videos. It was helpful for me because it was easily explained. My least favorite part was when we were ahead than the other classes and took the tests too early.
4.To improve this class, we should do more class activities and go over some reviews we have studied in chapter 2.

  10. 1.Well, it depends on the questions and I think that the tests have been pretty ok. Some questions are challenging cause of the confusion of the meaning for the word problem, but I think others are good enough.
2.I feel that Mr.Jobe adequately prepared me for the test cause we do review things like solving problems.
3.My favorite part so far in this math was making and watching the videos. My least favorite one was remembering properties and the WORD PROBLEMS!
4.I don’t have that many suggestions cause I’ve never been to any other math classes in KIS, but I think it will be better if you’re progressing a little slower.

  11. Class Blog Assignment

    1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?
Some questions were challenging to solve. Especially word problems some of the math terms in speeches were unfamiliar to me. But most of the test was normal.

Yes, because almost all the questions in the test were from what we learned in class.
    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?
My favorite part in math class was learning new equations about algebra and my least favorite part was memorizing the properties because there were so many of them.
    4. What suggestions do you have to improve this class?
I think we should have more projects and activities to get closer to the topic.

  12. Equation no.2:

Bob was having a party and he invited two gangs, the 2nd graders and the Nerds (which Bob was part of). Five people from the 2nd graders decided they didn’t want to come and five people from the Nerds decided they weren’t going to come. They day before the party the rest of the 2nd graders said they weren’t coming because they got invited to another party so the next day at the party Bob was the only person there.
